The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and other regulatory organizations have received praise from President Muhammad Buhari for their tenacity in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

 

The 6th African Union Day of Anti-Corruption remembrance event in Abuja, with the theme "Strategies and Mechanisms for the Transparent Management of COVID-19 Funds," was officially opened by the President when he made the commendation.

 

"I very much appreciate them for their sacrifices," said President Buhari, who participated in the event remotely. He expressed his pride in the anti-corruption agencies and other regulatory authorities for their efforts to stop corruption and other criminalities.

He continued by saying that Nigerian law enforcement organizations needed to have the freedom to carry out their duties unhindered.

 

The Nigerian President spoke on the event's theme and discussed how his nation quickly responded to the COVID-19 outbreak, emphasizing that it was now time for additional awareness efforts and investments in the healthcare industry.

President Buhari urged his contemporaries on the African continent to guarantee that national resources intended for the continent were not transferred to safe havens throughout the world but were utilised for the issues of illicit financial flows.
