REAL REASON WE LOST THE OSUN ELECTION: APC CHAIRMAN ADAMU BREAKS HIS SILENCE AND OFFERS POINTERS FOR THE 2023 ELECTIONS
The All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, blamed the party's failure to win the recently concluded election in Osun State on the turmoil roiling the ruling party.
Recall that Ademola Adeleke
of the Peoples Democracy Party defeated Gboyega Oyetola of the APC in the July 16
governorship election (PDP).
Oyetola received 375,027
votes, leaving Adeleke with a deficit of 403,371 votes.
Adamu responded, telling
BBC Hausa that the outcome of the Osun election cannot predict how well the
party will perform in the upcoming general election.
He claimed that because of
the party's overwhelming support, the election was never in danger of being
lost.
We didn't lose the race
because we lacked ability, he claimed; rather, it was due to an internal
crisis. A few days before the election, we had a sizable gathering of supporters
in Osogbo. Nobody ever dared to predict that we would lose the election.
"The loss in Osun in
no way indicates that we will lose the general election. Out of the 22 states
we have, we have only lost one; this shows how strong we are.
